LONGVIEW, Texas — Behind seven hits, the Sul Ross State softball team notched a 5-3 win over the LeTourneau University Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon at the LETU Softball Field.

The Yellow Jackets scored first in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly to left.
Taking advantage with a clutch two RBI double by
Ciera Avila, the Lobos flipped the script by taking a 3-1 lead in the third.
Adriana Hernandez also highlighted the inning with an infield RBI single.
Sul Ross State pushed across two more runs in the fifth when
Jaelyn Zuniga hit an RBI double to left center to drive in Avila.
The Lobos later scored a run on an error by the left fielder to make the score 5-1.
LeTourneau tried to rally back in the bottom of the seventh by scoring two runs, but the comeback attempt fell short.

- Vivian Jimenez finished 2 for 3 with two singles.
- Samantha Chavez and Kyndell Garcia each went 1 for 4 with a single.
- Avila finished 2 for 4 with a single, double and two RBI.
- Zuniga went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
- Hernandez finished 1 for 3 with a single and an RBI. She also reached base in the second after being hit by a pitch.
- Hannah Clark improved to 2-0 in the circle after she pitched six innings allowing five hits and two earned runs with one strikeout.
- Leanza Chambers picked up her first save of the season after throwing one scoreless inning with one strikeout.
