SAN ANTONIO, Texas —The 2024 season softball season is now underway.

On Saturday afternoon, the Sul Ross State Lobos dropped a pair of games to start Our Lady of the Lake University's Saints Classic.

In Game 1, the Lobos suffered an 8-0 loss in five innings to Our Lady of the Lake University, the seventh-ranked team in NAIA.

Sul Ross State fell in Game 2 to Texas A&M-San Antonio, 14-6, in five innings.

>> GAME 1:

Vivian Jimenez broke up the no-hitter in the top of the third with a single to left.

The Lobos got their second baserunner of the game in the top of the fifth when Madison Hodges was hit by pitch.

Alisandria Garcia came in to pinch run as she advanced to second on a wild pitch and later stole third, but she was left stranded.

• Jimenez finished 1 for 1 with the single.
• Leanza Chambers threw four innings allowing three hits and four earned runs.

>> GAME 2:

The Lobo offense fared well in the second game as Samantha Chavez hit a leadoff double in the first inning.

Lily Wiser hit a single as Chavez scored on the throw to put the Lobos on the board, 1-0.

Texas A&M-San Antonio tied up the game in the bottom half of the first with an RBI single through the left side.

In the bottom of the second, Texas A&M-San Antonio pushed across five runs on four hits to take a 6-1 lead.

Wiser stayed hot on offense as she hit a solo home run to left to cut the deficit to four runs in the third.

Texas A&M-San Antonio responded with two runs in the bottom of the third and two runs in the fourth to make the score 10-2.

The Lobos had a two-out rally in the fifth when Hodges reached first on an error by the shortstop. Wiser then came up with a double to put runners at second and third.

Two runs then scored on an error by the centerfielder. Malia Williams-Sala added to the rally by hitting an RBI infield single.

• The Lobos had seven hits.
• Wiser went 3 for 3 with a single, double, home run and an RBI.
• Chavez finished 1 for 3 with a double.
• Valeria Aguilar and Jaelyn Zuniga both went 1 for 1 with a single. Zuniga also reached base on a walk.
• Williams-Sala went 1 for 1 with the RBI single.
