During the home opener Saturday afternoon, the Sul Ross State football team fell to the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds, 51-12, at Jackson Field.

Using an eight-play, 77-yard drive, the Lobos found the end zone with 10:28 in the first quarter as
Andrew Martinez threw a seven-yard pass to
Isaiah Pena.
The point after attempt was no good, making the score 6-0.
In 18 plays, Eastern New Mexico took a 7-6 lead with a one-yard run on a quarterback keeper up the middle with 1:29 left in the opening quarter.
The Greyhounds later extended their lead to 10-6 by making a 42-yard field goal with 8:24 in the second quarter.
Sul Ross State found the end zone one more time when Martinez tossed a 15-yard pass to
Tarius McClure with 9:59 in the third quarter.

- Martinez completed 21 of 42 passes for 262 yards with two touchdowns.
- Pena led the receiving corps with five catches for 112 yards, which included a 62-yard reception on the opening drive.
- Sul Ross State compiled 252 yards of total offense.
- Jade Rios spearheaded the defense coming away with 15 total tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack.
- The defense finished with three sacks. Jayden Floyd and Aron Olague had the other two.
- Floyd tallied three tackles for loss.
