MARSHALL — During the final game of the regular season, the Sul Ross State softball team gave it their all against the No. 10 in the nation.
The Lobos rallied late and came up short in a 2-1 loss to East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Tigers scored one run in the first and one run in the second inning to lead 2-0.
After a one-out single by
Elizabeth Clemente in the top of the seventh,
Claire Decker hit an infield single to put runners at first and second.
Both runners then advanced on a wild pitch to setup an RBI groundout by
Madison Hodges.
Sul Ross out hit East Texas Baptist, 5-4.
Nadia Valverde and
Camryn Hardin each finished 1 for 3 with a single.
Clemente went 2 for 2 with a pair of singles and a walk while Decker ended up going 1 for 1.
Leanza Chambers threw a complete-game four-hitter allowing just one earned run.
