TUCSON, Arizona - Softball swept Baldwin Wallace by scores of 2-1 and 16-7 to start the Tucson Invitational.
"It was a good day in Arizona," said head coach
Troy Canaba. "We are working on a lot of things this trip. We're getting better and I'm proud of the girls!"

Annika Canaba then bunted home Chavez for a 2-0 lead.
That was all starter
Jodie Vaughn needed. The righty matched a career-high 11 strikeouts in a complete game. She allowed one earned run on five hits and walked none to move to 5-3 on the season.
Game 2: Sul Ross 16, Baldwin Wallace 7 (6 innings)
Payslee Sims singled home Canaba for a 1-0 lead in the first.
Nadia Valverde later scored on a throwing error before
Heather Rios made it 4-0 on a double that scored Sims and
Jaelyn Zuniga.
Canaba made it 5-0 in the second with a double to bring home
Camryn Hardin. Sims supplied another RBI single, again bringing in Canaba for a 6-0 lead going bottom two.
The Yellow Jackets added a pair in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-2 going to the third.
Hardin singled in Rios for a 7-2 lead before Baldwin Wallace came back with four to trim Sully's lead to 7-6 after three.
After a scoreless fourth, the Lobos added three more in the fifth. Rios scored on a throwing error before Bernal later stole third and scored on a throwing error. Canaba later singled in Hardin on a bunt for a 10-6 lead.
The Yellow Jackets got one back in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-7.
Sully continued to tack on the runs in the top of the sixth. Bernal singled in Rios before Hardin brought in Bernal on a single. Chavez then doubled in Hardin to make it 13-7. Valverde later singled in Chavez and Canaba for two more.
Jenna Spencer scored the final run of the inning to make it 16-7.
The Lobos surrendered no runs in the bottom of the sixth, ending the game with a 16-7 win.
Valverde and Rios led the game with four hits each.
Hardin, Canaba and Rios each scored a game-high three runs.
Rebecca Rodriguez picked up the win after 2.1 innings of relief. She gave up one unearned run on three hits and tallied four strikeouts for her first win.
The Lobos improve to 9-6 on the season. Baldwin Wallace moves to 0-2.
Sully continues the Tucson Invitational on Tuesday with games against Baldwin Wallace at 1:15 p.m. and then at 3:30 p.m. against Buena Vista. All times are CST.
