GEORGETOWN, Texas - A goal in the 70th minute from
Yissel Olivares avoided a shutout for women's soccer in a 4-1 loss to Southwestern in Friday's season opener.
The Pirates took a 2-0 lead to the break and extended it to 4-0 through 66:12 of the second half.
Sully was able to avoid the shutout with a goal from
Yissel Olivares off an assist by
Nuvia Guillen at 70:52 for a 4-1 score that eventually went final.
Britney Berumen led the Lobos with three shots and two on goal.
Alitzel Ybarra faced a total of 27 shots with 18 on goal and saved 12.
The Lobos fall to 0-1 on the season. Southwestern moves to 2-0.
Sully next travels to Kerrville on Sunday for a 12:00 p.m. match with Schreiner.
