MARSHALL, Texas -
Alitzel Ybarra finished with a career-high 13 saves in a 0-0 double overtime draw that was decided 4-3 for East Texas Baptist on penalty kicks in the ASC Quarterfinals.
Ybarra was busy all night with six saves in the first half and three in the second before going to overtime with a 0-0 score.
The first overtime saw another save for Ybarra before the second extra period saw her save four more.
Britney Berumen and
Joanna Estrada were busy offensively with five and two shots respectively. Berumen put three on goal and Estrada did twice.
Ybarra answered a successful penalty kick with one of her own for a 1-1 tie in the shootout.
After an ETBU miss,
Amanda Acuna put the Lobos ahead 2-1.
The Tigers made their next one before
Arely Villalobos missed hers for a 2-2 tie.
Both sides converted their fourth attempts with
Yissel Olivares making it 3-3.
ETBU missed their fifth and
Aileen Rincon did as well to keep it 3-3 heading to the sixth attempts.
The Tigers were able to convert their next kick before
Julia Gomez was unsuccessful with hers for a 4-3 shootout win for ETBU.
Sully finishes the season at 2-2-3. ETBU moves to 6-1-2.
