ABILENE, Texas - The Lobos gave undefeated Hardin-Simmons all they could handle Saturday in Abilene, but a 73rd minute goal for the Cowgirls helped edge Sully in a 1-0 final.
It went to the half with a 0-0 tie after three combined shots between both sides yielded no goals.
Alitzel Ybarra faced a barrage of shots all day with 12 in the first half but saved both on goal.
Sully doubled their shots in the second half with four but their shots on goal were saved.
HSU kept Ybarra busy all day with 16 shots in the second half. She saved four of five on goal, but a 73rd minute goal from the Cowgirls gave HSU a 1-0 lead and the eventual win.
Ybarra finished with a game-high six saves. It tied her season-high that also came against Hardin-Simmons on March 8 in Alpine in a 2-2 tie.
Britney Berumen had team-highs with three shots and two on goal.
The Lobos fall to 2-2-1 on the season and in conference play. HSU stands at 4-0-1 in both.
Sully concludes their regular season at home against McMurry on Saturday, March 27.
