Maria Maldonado finished with a game-high 20 points, but it was the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor that came away with a 68-49 win Thursday in Belton.
UMHB began the game on a 5-0 run before
Kaylee Martinez and
Chandre Nunez hit back-to-back jumpers to cut the deficit to 5-4 at 8:07.
After a Cru jumper, the Lady Lobos went on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the night on back-to-back triples from
Maria Maldonado for a 10-9 advantage at 5:27.
UMHB finished the first quarter on a 8-2 run to lead 17-12 heading to the second.
The Crusaders extended their lead to 13 on an 8-0 run over the first 3:06 of the second to lead 25-12.
Chandre Nunez cut the deficit to 10 at 3:51 on a triple, but UMHB ended the second on another 8-0 run to lead 35-17 at the break.
Sully brought it to within 16 twice in the third, but the Cru went on to lead by as many as 25 and eventually took a 52-28 lead to the final quarter.
The Lady Lobos played hard until the end as they outscored UMHB 21-16 in the final quarter before ultimately falling, 68-49.
Maldonado's game-high 20 points came with six rebounds, a tied game-high four assists, and a game-high four blocks.
Chandre Nunez added a double-double effort with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sully falls to 5-15 on the season and 3-8 in conference play. The Cru move to 16-4 and 9-2.
The Lady Lobos next head to Austin for a 1:00 p.m. tip this Saturday against Concordia.
