ALPINE- No. 6/7 Hardin-Simmons (1-0, 1-0) totaled 649 yards in a 64-0 shutout of the Lobos (0-1, 0-1) Saturday at Jackson Field.
The Cowboys held the Lobos to 96 total yards in the game.
It took HSU two plays to get on the board with a 65 yard strike to Kevi Evans from Brennen Wooten for a 7-0 lead.
Wooten and Evans connected two more times for scores in the first half, including a 43 yard reception to make it 37-0.
The Cowboys would eventually lead 40-0 at the half.
HSU scored three more touchdowns on the ground and kicked two field goals in the second half and coasted 64-0 over the Lobos.
Hal Torrez and
Marcus Luna both forced fumbles recovered by the Lobos while
Treyton Bates blocked a field goal attempt.
The Lobos next travel to Kingsville Saturday, September 14th for a 7:00 p.m. clash with Division II Texas A&M - Kingsville.
