Two first half goals propelled the Pirates of Southwestern 2-0 over the Lady Lobos Friday night in each team's season opener.
Leading 1-0, Southwestern's Hallie Rutherford netted the second goal with an assist by Juliet Pridgen.
Held to just five shots in the first half, Sully ramped up their attack with eight shots in the second half and 10 on goal for the game. Goalkeeper Mary Cardone notched eight saves for the Pirates as she helped shutout the Lady Lobos 2-0.
Aylin Villalobos led all Lady Lobos with three shots,
Gabriel Valero,
Ayssa Ozuna and
Rebecca Esquivel each notched two.
The Lady Lobos next travel to San Antonio on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. match against Trinity.
