Aylin Villalobos' second half goal was the only for either side, as the Lady Lobos finished their season with a 1-0 win over Howard Payne Friday on Senior Day.
Both goalkeepers played a shutout first half with
Alitzel Ybarra saving all four shots that came her way.
Senior
Aylin Villalobos scored her team-high eighth goal of the season at 68:39 of the second half for a 1-0 lead. She was assisted by
Julia Gomez.
She tied her career-high in goals from 2018 when she also scored eight.
Lily Boles replaced Ybarra for the second half and finished the combined shutout with three saves for a 1-0 Sully win.
The Lady Lobos put up 18 shots and 12 on goal for the game.
Nuvia Guillen led both sides with four on goal.
Britney Berumen put three of her four shots on target and
Aylin Pereyra added two.
Five seniors were honored Friday at halftime. They included Villalobos,
Xandria Cisneros,
Rebecca Esquivel,
Haley Gillespie, and
Hannah Medina.
Villalobos ended her two seasons with 16 goals and 43 shots on goal as a midfielder.
Cisneros played three seasons with the Lady Lobos with an assist and two shots on goal as a midfielder.
Esquivel totaled two assists and 13 shots on goal in her four years with Sully as a defender.
Gillespie scored three goals, had 32 shots on goal, and three assists in her four seasons as a midfielder at Sul Ross.
Medina played all four years for the Lady Lobos and totaled one goal on seven shots on goal.
Sully ended the year winners of their final two games and finished 4-9-4 and 3-6-2 in ASC play. Howard Payne finished at 8-9-2 and 4-6-1.
