KERRVILLE, Texas- Freshman guard Kaylee Martinez posted a double double 19 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Sul Ross Lady Lobo basketball team to a 79-58 win over host Schreiner University Saturday afternoon.

Sully finished with three other players in double figures as Angalyn Latin and Chandre Nunez tallied 15 points each while Annie Lenoir sported 13 points in Saturday's victory.

The Mountaineers started the game with a 5-0 run that ended on a free throw by Sydney Williams at the 7:46 mark.

A three-pointer by Lenoir 13 seconds later put the first points on the board for the Lady Lobos.

Sully climbed to within a one-point deficit at 3:26 as Latin banked on two free throws as Schreiner clung to a 13-12 lead. Latin then rang in a long-range jumper with just under three-minutes left in the opening quarter to knot the game at 15.

Martinez's layup at 1:38 gave Sul Ross its first lead of the outing before Lenoir drained another three-point basket at :43 seconds giving the Lady Lobos a 20-15 advantage heading to the second quarter. 

Martinez kick-started a 7-0 run with a layup at the 9:17 mark before Lenoir converted again from outside the arc nearly two minutes later to cap the drive as the visitors led 27-15.

The Lady Lobos would go on to lead by 16 as Martinez converted another scoop shot at 2:32 for a 36-20 advantage.

Jazmine Saucedo would notch the final bucket of the half with a three-pointer at the three-second mark as Sul Ross went to the break with a commanding 44-28 lead.

Sully never lost the momentum in the third period as Jocelyne Roque hit the second of two foul shots giving the Lady Lobos a 50-36 lead with 3:45 remaining in the quarter.

Another Martinez layup at 1:10 gave Sul Ross a 58-39 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The Mountaineers pulled to within 19 midway through the final period but the Lady Lobos never lost control as Saucedo hit the final bucket with five seconds remaining for the 79-58 Lady Lobo victory.

Sul Ross evens its season mark at 2-2 while Schreiner drops to 0-5.

The Lady Lobos open American Southwest Conference play November 29 against visiting U.T. Dallas.
