Angalyn Latin scored 14 points but the Lady Lobos (0-4) fell 65-53 to College of St. Scholastica (3-1) in day two of the Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Invitational.
Latin shouldered six rebounds in the effort and supplied four assists, a block and a steal.
Following a sluggish first quarter that saw just seven points scored for Sul Ross, a three-point bucket by
Jasmine Valdez pushed the Lady Lobos to double figure scoring with 6:43 left in the second period.
Another long range jumper by
Daizja Plummer at 53 seconds narrowed Sully's deficit to 15 as the Saints went to the break on top, 38-23.
Latin drained a three-point bucket at the 8:05 mark, third quarter before layups by
Jessy Stanley and Valdez pulled the Lady Lobos to within eight at 6:09.
Scholastica broke ahead to a 14-point advantage and took a 51-38 lead to the closing period.
The Saints took command of the fourth quarter jumping to a 21-point spread.
Sul Ross battled its way down to a ten-point deficit off of two free throws by
Lizette Heredia with just under two minutes remaining in the contest.
Scholastica ended the outing on a pair of free throws to secure the 65-53 victory.
Valdez and
Taylor Gass led rebounders with seven boards each while Gass led the team with five steals.
Stanley recorded a team-best five assists on the day.
The Lady Lobos shot an impressive 47 percent or 9-of-19 from beyond the arc.
Sul Ross will open American Southwest Conference play on December 2 in Richardson against U.T. Dallas.
