JACKSON, Ms.- In its longest road game of the season, the Sul Ross Lady Lobo soccer team (6-3-1, 4-2-1) made quick work of Belhaven University (2-10-1, 1-7-0) defeating the Blazers in a 5-1 ASC decision Thursday evening.
Belhaven would score the first goal at the 17th minute as Jessica Mahoney converted on a long pass from Catherine Waggonner.
It was all Sul Ross afterward as freshman
Britney Berumen (El Paso/Socorro) scored on a one-stepper around the defender at the 24th minute.
Lauren Ebbs scored the first of her three goals of the outing on a 20-yard punch at 30:34 as Sully took a 2-1 advantage to the break.
Berumen then set up an eight-yard tapper for Ebbs at the 53:06 mark of the second period.
Berumen would post her second goal of the contest off an assist by Ebbs just 23 seconds later for a 4-1 Lady Lobo lead.
Ebbs then put Belhaven away off a set up by
Xandria Cisneros (Odessa/Permian) at 55:43.
Ebbs secured her third hat trick of the season and tallied nine shots with five on goal.
As a team, Sul Ross finished with an 11-shot total putting seven on the frame. The Blazers recorded 11 shots with five on goal.
Ashlie Rojas sported the win with a pair of saves. Reserve goalkeeper
Kelly Swenson (Austin/Texas Virtual Academy) also grabbed two saves on the evening.
The Lady Lobos will take on Louisiana College Saturday at noon from Pineville.
