Ozarks edges women's soccer, 2-1

CLARKSVILLE, Ark.- Two goals scored early and late in the first half propelled University of the Ozarks to a 2-1 ASC victory over visiting Sul Ross Thursday.

The loss drops the Lady Lobos to 2-3-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in conference competition while Ozarks improves to 4-4 and 2-1.

Sul Ross will visit U.T. Tyler on Saturday.

The Eagles' Brittanie Gragg scored from the corner at the 6:25 mark off an assist by Katherine Zamora.

Morgan Austin then belted her first goal of the season from 12 yards out off an assist by Gragg at 40:39.

Sully's Maria Alatorre (El Paso/Early Mission) scored on a rebounded ball seven and a half minutes into the second period but it was all the Lady Lobos were able to muster as Ozarks held out for the 2-1 win.

As a team Sul Ross reserved all five of its attempts for the second half with four shots on goal. Ozarks totaled 19 shots with seven on goal.

Junior goal keeper Ashlie Rojas (El Paso/Montwood) notched five saves in the effort.
