ALPINE, Texas- Lauren Ebbs (Dublin, Ireland) accounted for three out of four goals scored as Sul Ross opened American Southwest Conference play with a 4-1 victory over visiting LeTourneau Thursday.
The Lady Lobos improve to 2-2 and 1-0 with the win and will face East Texas Baptist University at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Alpine. The Yellow Jackets drop to 3-3 and 0-1.
LeTourneau scored its one and only goal of the game at the 2:12 post as Kelli Sonnier converted off an assist by Kristen Wunder.
Sul Ross answered at 15:15 as Ebbs scored the first of her three goals on an assist by Valeria Rey (El Paso/Parkland) which would stretch the 1-1 tie to the half.
Rey then converted a penalty kick at the 47:14 mark before Ebbs scored unassisted at 66:59 giving Sully a 3-1 advantage.
The junior from Ireland then nailed her final score of the day off another assist by Rey at the 81:18 mark securing the 4-1 win.
As a team the Lady Lobos finished with 27 shots and 20 attempts on goal. LeTourneau totaled 14 shots with 11 on goal.
Goal keeper Ashlie Rojas (El Paso/Montwood) recorded 10 saves in Thursday's victory.
