Concordia defeats SRSU women, 65-52

ALPINE, Texas- Ashley Ousley (Killeen/Shoemaker) scored 11 points and Kenya Miles (Tomball/Memorial) posted 10 rebounds as the Sul Ross women's basketball team dropped a 65-52 ASC game to Concordia in the Lady Lobos' final home contest of the season.

Sul Ross shot 39 percent from the field in Saturday's loss while hitting two of nine from outside the arc.

The Tornadoes put up an 8-0 run to start the game and led 23-17 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Lobos narrowed the gap to two at the 6:07 mark in the second period as Mia Ochoa (Levelland/Whitharral) rang in a midrange shot.

Desare Allen (Midland/MHS) scored the final bucket for the home team before the half while Concordia's Brenisha Payne fired the final shot of the period giving the Tornadoes a 36-28 advantage at intermission.

The visitors mounted a 10-0 run in the third period and led 54-38 heading to the fourth.

A jump shot by Ashley Minjarez (El Paso/Irvin) at 6:18 would be the final time the Lady Lobos would trail by less than 10 as Concordia went on to win the game by the 65-52 final.

Sul Ross falls to 4-20 and 1-12 while Concordia improves to 12-11 and 4-9.

The Lady Lobos will close out the season next week at Howard Payne.
