Lobos Gameweek
ALPINE, Texas- For the first time since 2004, the Sul Ross Lobos (3-3, 1-1 ASC) have beaten Louisiana College (3-3, 1-2 ASC) as Sully ended their 12-year skid with a 21-14 ASC win over the visiting Wildcats at Jackson Field Saturday.
Sul Ross has won their second straight game and will face McMurry in Abilene at 2:00 p.m. next Saturday.
Jeremy Schilhab (Uhland/Lehman) capped an 11-play, 63-yard drive with a two-yard scoring run late in the first quarter.
Adam Cruz (Canutillo/CHS) converted the extra point kick giving the Lobos a 7-0 advantage at the 2:42 mark.
James Davis (Houston/South) then connected with
Josh Lopez (Hereford/HHS) from 11 yards out at the 6:54 post, second quarter, before Cruz made good on the extra point for a 14-0 lead which would survive to the half.
The Wildcats scored the first of their two touchdowns with 8:48 left in the third period as Easton Melancon found Shedrick Davis on an eight-yard scoring toss which finished 12 plays and 68 yards. The extra point kick by Charles Firmin cut the visitors' deficit in half, 14-7.

Jeremy Reed (Grandview, MO) hit
Steven Savedra (El Paso/Del Valle) on a 20-yard touchdown pass. Cruz's extra point was good for a 21-7 Sul Ross lead.
Louisiana College's Nick Julien would convert the final score for the Wildcats on a two-yard scamper following seven plays and 40 yards. Firmin's extra point try split the uprights with 2:22 left in regulation.
Sul Ross ended the game deep inside the LC red zone but ran out the clock sealing the 21-14 win.
As a team the Lobos edged their Wildcat counterparts in total offensive yardage by a 302-300 margin.
Davis passed 31 times completing 19 throws for 169 yards and a touchdown.
Savedra led the receiving corps with five receptions for 70 yards and a score.
Adrion Smith (Houston/Clear Springs) netted 44 yards off of eight carries.
Ennis Harmon (Beaumont/Ozen) and
Zack Roberson (Houston/Cypress Ridge) totaled eight and seven tackles respectively to lead the defense.
Roberson posted an interception for an eight-yard return and finished with a pair of breakups.
Jermaine Stevens (Houston/South) also shouldered two breakups in the victory.
